I wonder if the separation of art and science as totally different disciplines is unhelpful? Both are concerned with understanding the world. Both try to communicate that understanding. I’m a visual artist with a science background, intrigued by the potential of art to complement scientific understanding by offering means to engage people in issues affecting our societies.
Crucially, there are issues for us as individuals and societies, where what science can tell us for definite is limited. And yet we still have to make choices. I’m interested in creating art that helps me to understand my own responses to living in the UK today, and hope that it creates the space for discernment.
